To edit a product's synonyms:Note: This feature is available only to administrators and to inventory assistants with permission to edit product data.
A synonym is an alternate name for a product, enabling users to identify and find the product using any of multiple names: its common name, plus any number of synonyms. Edit a product's synonyms when you need to add, edit, and/or delete one or more synonyms. Each change you make immediately takes effect for any user simple searching, advanced searching, or browsing the product list by synonym.
To edit a product's synonyms:
Starting at the Product Information page
Click the EDIT button at the top of the display.
Note: This button appears only when you are logged in as a) an administrator, or b) an inventory assistant with permission to edit product data.
The Information Administration page opens, showing the areas of product data you can edit.
In the Modify Indexes area, click Synonyms.
The Synonyms display shows the product's current synonyms.
Do any of the following:
To add a new synonym: Click Add New in the upper left. Enter the new synonym in the field provided. Then click the save (
) icon to save the new synonym.
To edit an existing synonym: Click the synonym you want to edit. Edit the synonym in the field provided. Then click the save () icon to save the change.
To delete an existing synonym: Click the delete (
) icon of the synonym you want to delete.
Note: If you need to refer to the product's MSDS, click [View MSDS] in the upper right to open the product's MSDS in a new window.
Each synonym change immediately takes effect for any user simple searching, advanced searching, or browsing the product list by synonym.
